Protest Over Accommodation

MORANBAH North miners have begun protesting over what they describe as a “dangerous practice” of sharing camp rooms, which would require workers to drive home after 12-hour shifts.
Moranbah North CFMEU Lodge president Dean Smith said Anglo Coal’s plans to “hot bed” workers’ accommodation meant workers would be forced to hand in their room key and drive back to Mackay after working their last 12-hour shift on their roster.

However, Anglo hit back at the claims yesterday, saying the company had a fatigue management policy in place and always had rooms available at Grosvenor Village for every worker finishing their rostered cycle.  Read More
