QUEENSLAND councils will fiercely fight miners who try to negotiate around a proposed new ban on exploration near urban areas.
The Queensland government announced on Monday that no mining exploration would be allowed within two kilometres of any southeast Queensland town that has a population of 1000 or more.
Mining companies who relinquish any permit would be offered incentives by the state government, including time extensions on other permits. Read More
