ONE-THIRD of NSW is covered by coal-seam gas exploration licences, leading to calls for tougher restrictions on the industry, which has been accused of polluting groundwater supplies and threatening the productivity of prime agricultural land.
"Every little valley I go to as I travel down the south coast has a CSG company sniffing around," environmental activist Drew Hutton said yesterday.
"There are exploration permits and companies actively pursuing those permits across a huge expanse of the country."
