The Queensland rural lobby group AgForce says a ban on coal seam gas (CSG) exploration that comes into effect today is 'a slap in the face for farmers'.
Queensland Premier Anna Bligh has ruled that no new exploration permits for CSG will be issued for areas within two kilometres of towns with more than 1,000 people.
New laws will also will be introduced later this year to retrospectively excise permits from populated zones.
