The new Queensland government will push ahead with a planned levy on the coal seam gas industry.
The previous Labor government promised to impose a levy on CSG companies to fund the Queensland Water Commission's monitoring of the industry's groundwater impacts.
In September last year, then environment minister Vicky Darling said it was fair that the industry funded the costs of ensuring the environment was protected.
But the Bligh government failed to implement the levy before it was thrown out of office in March.
Natural Resources and Mines Minister Andrew Cripps said the Newman government supported the levy.
"We are supportive of a levy to fund compliance activities and we will be following it up," Mr Cripps told ABC radio on Tuesday.
