PLACARD: Fullerton Cove resident Julie Wood with family and friends in August last year protesting against Dart Energy's plans for the area
FERN Bay residents opposed to coal seam gas exploration in their area say it’s a stepping stone to gas development across the Hunter coast.
Residents’ spokeswoman Sue Walker said a meeting at Fern Bay Hall at 7pm tomorrow would discuss the activities of Dart Energy.
She said most people in her area opposed Dart’s test drilling, which they worried was a threat to the Tomago sandbeds.
A Dart spokesman said Hunter Water had reviewed its pilot project and confirmed ‘‘no risk’’ to Newcastle drinking water.
‘‘We have been transparent about what we are doing and we have been engaging with the community,’’ the spokesman said.
