The region's Catchment Management Authority (CAP) is seeking public feedback about environmental issues.
A series of meetings will be held this week from Port Macquarie to Tweed Heads to get input to a new Northern Rivers Action Plan.
Strategic planning co-ordinator Graeme Moss says the plan will cover everything from cane toads to coal seam gas.
He said it is vital to have a comprehensive action plan.
"I think one of the interesting things about the region is that it's very diverse and so it's a very complex area," he said.
"We'll be dealing with the usuals of invasive species, erosion issues, habitat degradation.
"But we'll also provide an avenue for starting discussion on really hot issues at the moment like coal seam gas."
