FARMERS' compensation agreements with miners could include payments for loss of social amenity and the time landholders spent negotiating.
A Land Access Review Panel report to the Queensland government has recommended that compensation arrangements should be included on publicly searchable land titles -- an Australian first -- to ensure buyers are aware the property has been subject to resource exploration or development.
Queensland Natural Resources Minister Andrew Cripps said many stakeholders had little confidence in existing processes to protect their interests.
"There is much work to be done across the resources sector to achieve its social licence to operate," he told parliament.
"The resources sector will play a critical role in Queensland's much-needed economic recovery but its strong growth must be balanced with the need to protect the interests of landholders, local communities and the environment."
