Date: Tuesday 16th August, 2011
Time: 6.00pm - 8.00pm
Am organising a govt/industry meeting on the NSW "Strategic Regional Land Use" resource exploration regulation reforms for work right now and just got the heads up today from Dart Energy's CEO that they aren't going to be drilling in St Peters until 2013 at the earliest and will be focussing on on their other exploration leases throughout NSW instead. All of this community action is having a big impact, so keep it up!
Confirmed Speakers: Dart Energy
Confirmed Ministers: Carmel Tebbutt - Member for Marrickville
... Kristina Keneally - Member for Heffron
Jeremy Buckingham - Senate Committee - Inquiry into CSG
Local group, Sydney Residents Against Coal Seam Gas (SRACSG), have been in negotiations for over 6 weeks with Dart Energy for a Community Consultation meeting, which will now take place on August 16.
This is an opportunity for concerned community members to ask questions and raise concerns with the company that is planning to drill for gas under St Peters in Sydney'/s Inner West.
SRACSG is hopeful that Dart Energy will supply responses to a list of as yet mostly unanswered questions, that were submitted to the company more than 6 weeks ago.
The Minister for Planning, the Minister for Resources and Energy, the Health Minister, the Minister for Primary Industries, and the Members for Heffron and Marrickville have also been invited to the meeting.
All those concerned are urged to attend, with residents encouraged to register their interest (and any potential questions) by clicking here or by emailing meet@nogasmininginsydney.com. Community members can also turn up on the night and there will be time for questions from the floor.
