ONE in four parliamentarians in Queensland's state government hold shares in mining or resources companies or have accepted sponsored travel from them this term.
In the latest register of members' interests tabled in state parliament, 22 of the 89 MPs have declared an interest relating to a mining or resources company.
Nine opposition parliamentarians hold shares in resource or exploration companies, while three Labor backbenchers also have a direct interest in resource companies.
No Bligh government ministers are allowed to hold shares, after Premier Anna Bligh introduced tougher integrity laws banning ministers and parliamentary secretaries from direct shareholdings or holding company directorships in 2008.
Yesterday, Liberal National Party leader Campbell Newman vowed to continue the ban.
