Maitland will join a nationwide protest to stop delivery of gas from Narrabri to Kooragang Island through the region.
Residents will gather at Minister’s Park, Maitland, on Sunday, for a national day of action opposing the coal seam gas mining project.
“This rally is part of an awareness campaign to let people know what could happen, but also we want people to know that we are very much against this project because we just don’t need the gas,” rally organiser and Maitland Greens’ member Wendy White said.
Eastern Star Gas wants planning approval from the state and federal governments for the pipeline project.
