A new report is forecasting Australia's resources industry will continue to boom with production set to reach the highest rate of growth in more than 20 years by 2016.
BIS Shrapnel's Mining in Australia report is tipping production to soar by 45 per cent in the next five years.
It is also predicting annual mining investment will reach more than $80 billion by 2015 with oil and gas projects, including Gorgon and Wheatstone, leading the new investment charge.
But, the report warns the increases in production and investment growth could also temper the mining boom.
