Pipeline Industry Predicts Huge Rise in Contracts Due to Gas Demand

A SERIES of export liquefied natural gas projects in Queensland will generate investments in gas pipelines of as much as $20 billion over the next few years.

Gas projects being planned in NSW are likely to significantly increase that sum.

''This is an unprecedented level of activity in the pipeline sector, which will continue in line with the increased use of gas,'' the chairman of the Australian Pipeline Industry Association, Peter Cox, said.
''Australian companies are very well placed to secure this work, because an understanding of Australian conditions, Australian codes and Australian regulations is critical to the success of pipeline projects,'' he said.
