Mine Industry Fills Food Bowl

IT'S considered by those who farm it as the "jewel" of the nation's food bowl.
To the mining giants it's not the fertile soil on the Liverpool Plains that's attracted their interest it's the treasure that lies underneath.
As the mining industry continues to make its moves on the Gunnedah region for coal and coal seam gas exploration, farmers are worried about what is being done to protect food security and valuable water resources.
