SYDNEY broadcaster Alan Jones took his strident campaign against east coast coalmining and onshore gas production national this week when he fronted the National Press Club in Canberra.
The 45-minute diatribe, which included the exaggerations Jones excuses himself for when he gets on a roll, was relentless.
His crusade is certainly increasing the knowledge of farmers' often valid concerns to the wider community.
But whether his emotive approach, which lumps coal-seam gas producers and coalminers together as villains threatening food security, citizens' rights, water supplies and public health in NSW and Queensland, is an accurate reflection of community attitude in the areas where this is taking place is a different matter.
