THE peaks of the Scenic Rim will be adorned with huge banners and masses of people on Sunday, October 16 for a dramatic protest against coal and Coal Seam Gas (CSG) mining.
Hundreds of passionate local landholders, farmers and tourism operators who are worried about the future of the region are expected to be joined by walking groups from near and far to take to the hills for the protest with a difference.
The Protestors on Peaks event, coordinated by local group Keep the Scenic Rim Scenic (KTSRS), will be part of a national day of action against coal and CSG mining coordinated by anti coal and CSG group Lock the Gate Alliance.
Thousands of landholders from across the nation expected to take part in a variety of events on the day.
KTSRS member Heidi Ross said commercial television outlets had already displayed an interest in Protestors on Peaks, with expectations that the day will turn into a dramatic media fly-over event.
