The State Government says gas producers would abandon Queensland if the Liberal National Party (LNP) was to win government.
In a letter to the editor, Howard Hobbs, the Member for Warrego in southern Queensland, has suggested increasing the compensation coal seam gas (CSG) companies pay landholders.
He wants annual payments to be based on a percentage of the revenue that is generated by each well.
"A minimum $10,000 for an exploration well - and say $15,000 for a production well," he said.
He also wants companies to pay rent for every kilometre of pipeline laid on a property.
