Conservation, Farming Land Could be Mined

Prime farming land and "highly sensitive habitats" could be mined for coal seam gas and coal under a confidential draft plan given to the NSW government.

The briefing document reveals that horse breeding and winery regions as well as prime farming land and conservation areas could be open to mining, the Sydney Morning Herald reported on Saturday.

The guidelines for deciding where and how mining will occur reveal that "highly sensitive habitats" could be mined as long as "offsets" of similar land are provided by a mining company.
