The massive Wallarah 2 coal project has been revived, with backer Korean
Resources (KoRes) seeking approval from the NSW state government.
The underground coal mine was originally
rejected in March, just prior to the state election, the Newcastle Herald
reports.
Kerry Heywood, Wallarah 2 general manager,
said the mine's owners met with NSW premier Barry O'Farrell who had "reiterated
the government's commitment to merit based planning processes".
The proposal for the underground coal mine
was previously rejected by planning minister Tony Kelly.
