The organiser of a Perth anti-uranium protest says it is "ridiculous" that the mining giant BHP Billiton has warned employees to cover up company logos for their own safety.
An email to BHP Billiton employees reportedly advised them to keep a low profile in the lead-up to next week's Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting, be discreet showing company logos on identity cards, laptops and clothing and to report tailgating and other suspicious activities.
But Mia Pepper, from the Conservation Council of WA, which is organising today's protest at Central Park, told Radio 6PR the warnings were simply about fear-mongering.
"It's ridiculous. The people who work at BHP, that's their business," Ms Pepper told breakfast host Steve Mills.
"Our argument is with the mananagement and the power they exert on governments.
