Arrow reveals gas pipeline EIS

An environmental impact statement (EIS) has been released for a proposed gas pipeline from the Bowen Basin to the central Queensland coast.

Arrow Energy is proposing to build a 580-kilometre pipeline from north of Moranbah to a proposed facility just west of Gladstone.

The pipeline would cross through four council areas, including Whitsunday and Rockhampton.
In the EIS, Arrow says most of the land in question is rural and used for grazing and cropping.

It says none of the land has been designated as Strategic Cropping Land.

The statement also says a number of Indigenous artefacts have been discovered along the proposed route, including wells and ovens, and work is continuing to determine their significance.

If approved, it is expected work would begin in April 2016, with operations starting from 2017.
Public consultation closes late next month.
