The Premier of New South Wales has agreed to visit the Hunter Valley and hear the concerns of thoroughbred breeders who are worried about rapid mine expansion in the region.
Barry O'Farrell made the commitment on the sidelines of the Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney, where Upper Hunter bred horses are attracting top dollar.
There is pressure on the New South Wales Government to make amendments to its Draft Strategic Regional Land Use policy and offer greater protection to the Upper Hunter's multi-billion dollar thoroughbred industry.
