Arrow LNG undergoing public review on impacts and benefits

Arrow Energy's planned Arrow liquefied natural gas project on Curtis Island, Queensland, continues to progress towards development approval with its environmental impact statement now up for public review.

The statement put out by the Shell, PetroChina joint venture details potential environmental, social and economic impacts; mitigating factors; as well as benefits of the Arrow LNG project.

The project is envisaged as a 18 million tonne per annum (MMtpa) project with a first phase consisting of two 4MMtpa trains.

Arrow LNG will use coal seam gas (CSG) sourced from Arrow Energy's fields in the Bowen Basin as feedstock.

Its approval and development could also open up another commercialisation option for junior CSG players such as WestSide Corporation (ASX: WCL), Blue Energy (ASX: BUL), Exoma Energy (ASX:EXE), Comet Ridge (ASX: COI), Senex Energy (ASX: SXY) and Icon Energy(ASX: ICN).

Arrow Energy, a joint venture between Shell and PetroChina, is the last of 4 major CSG to LNG projects that have been proposed for Queensland.
