Star sings out for Katter party

Country star and Stanthorpe local James Blundell croons the official Katter Australian Party theme song Give Bob The Job at the Wallangarra Hotel

THERE were a few tense moments spattered with claps and cheers as Katter's Australian Party Southern Downs candidate Ade Larsen addressed a crowd at the Wallangarra Hotel Tuesday night.

Mr Larson was joined by supporter James Blundell, who said he'd had enough of two-party politics.
Blundell - who penned the campaign song for the party - played the freshly recorded and produced tune for the pub's patrons to cheers of delight. He said the ALP leadership kerfuffle had been a great example of why he decided to write the song and get behind the party.
"Really it happened about the same time I was approached to stand for the Southern Downs but couldn't for various reasons," he said.
"But it got to the point where I was losing my patience with everything."
While some of the crowd snuck in from over the border just to see Blundell perform, it didn't stop them from piping up come question time.
Queries about science and funding, what could be done for Wallangarra and boat people were on the agenda. Concerns were raised for people working in the mining industry with the party's no CSG stance.
