Strategic Cropping Legislation Set to Enter Parliament

THE State Government has confirmed that it will introduce Strategic Cropping Land (SCL) legislation into the Parliament this month and that it will keep to its deadline of having the laws in place this year.
QFF said the farming body and its members have been resolute in holding the government to its commitment of having the laws in place this year, after the policy was first proposed in early 2010.
"Although not perfect and in need of ongoing science-based refinement, the policy (and having it in place) is an important step toward protecting the State’s agricultural assets into the future, and ensuring certainty for landholders," the organisation said.
