TWEED residents have slammed the coal-seam gas mining industry and plan to hold a slew of protest rallies across the region next weekend.
Lock the Gate Alliance is the driving force behind the rallies, which will be held in Murwillumbah, Tweed Heads, Burringbar, Uki, Mt Burrell, Byrrill Creek and Tyalgum next Sunday, October 16.
The day marks the start of National Water Week and the Tweed rallies will join with other events across the country.
Tweed couple Michael and Julie McNamara recently returned from a trip that saw them take the fight against coal-seam gas mining across New South Wales.
