Prime Minister Julia Gillard has announced an extra $25.5 million for the Maldon to Dombarton rail link to assist the mining sector.
The announcement was welcomed by the CFMEU, who said the funding is an important step in completing NSW's rail infrastructure, according to The Age.
"Output at some mines is currently limited by restrictions on large truck movements to Port Kembla," CFMEU general vice president Wayne McAndrew stated.
"While this is a welcome development - it must be followed through with a commitment to get on and complete the rail link."
