IN life he was a passionate and vocal opponent of coal seam gas drilling in the Hunter Valley.
Macquarie Bank Chairman David Clarke funded anti-mining campaigns, spoke at a feisty rally outside gas mining giant AGL's annual general meeting and littered his Pooles Rock Vineyard with signs rejecting coal seam gas.
Now, six months after Mr Clarke died of cancer, Pooles Rock Vineyard is being sold - to AGL.
"David would be turning in his grave," Hunter Valley Protection Alliance member Graeme Gibson, whose vineyard borders Pooles Rock Vineyard, said yesterday.
