Court Challenge for AGL Project

Uncertainty … Stroud post office, which - along with the town - falls in the southern reaches of the approved project.

ONE of the state's biggest coal seam gas projects, AGL's Gloucester Gas in the Hunter, is being challenged in the Land and Environment Court.
AGL paid $370 million for the rights to the licence area in 2008 and hopes to begin producing gas in 2017.
Yesterday, the Environmental Defender's Office, which represents the Barrington-Gloucester-Stroud Preservation Alliance, sought to have the approval for the project declared invalid.
