Premier Campbell Newman says he has not ruled out raising coal royalties if the expected funds flowing to Queensland from the Federal Government’s new mining resources rent tax are below expectations.
Mr Newman told reporters yesterday the new Queensland Government was prepared to ‘‘wait and see’’ before considering alternative action that could include raising coal royalties.
‘‘I told the Prime Minister that at our meeting a week or so ago and as long as they deliver on that, that’s fine,’’ he said.
‘‘I want to co-operate with them.’’
‘‘We will see what they come up with.’’
