What's the position of the Nationals on Coal Seam Gas? Drew Hutton

International demand for Coal Seam Gas has created considerable problems for many Australians. We seem to have lots of it. But much of it is located under valuable farmland or close to townships.

Farmers don't want to lose their farmland and town residents don't want the invasive activities of drilling and fracking for the gas. According to Environmental Lobbyist, Drew Hutton, last week's statement on coal seam gas by the federal Nationals leader Warren Truss just continues the party's practice of telling farmers that they sympathise with their plight and they will be looked after......But it does little to address the real problems of the too-rapid expansion of the gas industry.
