The Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries, is calling for all coal seam gas exploration to be put on hold until regulations are in place for the industry.
The MP has met the Warren Shire Council and landholders who are concerned about a petroleum exploration licence held by Santos and the potential impact on aquifers.
A New South Wales Government inquiry into the impacts of coal seam gas activities and its role in meeting future energy needs will hold a public hearing in Narrabri later this month.
Mr Humphries says not enough information is available about the possible impact on the agricultural industry.
