TALKS between residents and coal seam gas explorer AGL are scheduled for 1pm in Gloucester today.
Barrington-Gloucester-Stroud Preservation Alliance chairman Graeme Healy said the group and AGL representatives would discuss the company’s offer to appoint an expert to review its water studies of the Gloucester Gas Project.
The peer reviewer is scheduled to be chosen by the Gloucester Gas Project’s community consultative committee, which meets in Gloucester tomorrow.
Late last year, the alliance blockaded an AGL access road to pilot well sites south of the town for two weeks and called for a new, independent water study for the project.
The blockade disbanded after AGL said it would halt exploration until a peer reviewer was selected and a report made public.
The company also agreed to continue negotiations with the alliance.
AGL has not returned the Newcastle Herald’s calls for comment.
