New spill at Santos CSG site

COAL-SEAM gas giant Santos has been involved in a chemical leak at its operations in the Pilliga State Forest in northern NSW, with about 250L of the algae suppressant Algaecide spilt late last month.

The spill follows an admission by Santos last week that in June last year 10,000L of polluted waste water was spilled at the site, potentially contaminating 1.2ha of bushland.

Santos said the latest "minor" spill occurred on December 22 in a "contained area" at the Bibblewindi water treatment facility.
