An Australian farmer has warned Southlanders not to believe coal companies' claims that the environment will not be affected by lignite mining, saying that mining destroyed his local community in Queensland.
It came at an anti-lignite mining event at Mataura, Southland, called the Keep the Coal in the Hole.
Sid Plant, an Australian seed and grain farmer whose farm borders on a coal mine in Southern Queensland, told the meeting not to trust mining companies.
