First shipment of steel pipe for the LNG to CSG pipeline arrives in Gladstone port
THE pipeline construction phase of an Australia Pacific LNG project is under way, with the first shipment of steel pipe arriving on Monday.
The pipe will be used to construct a 530km gas transmission pipeline, which will transport coal seam gas from gas fields in the Surat and Bowen basins to an LNG facility being developed on Curtis Island.
Australia Pacific LNG chief executive Page Maxson said the arrival of the pipe represented a major mile-stone for the project.
It signalled the start of the critical construction phase.

"We expect construction to take 24 months, following typical construction stages, with the pipeline divided into sections," Ms Maxson said.
