Study to Focus on Farmers' Suicides

A new study hopes to uncover why Australian farmers are twice as likely to take their own lives than are people in other jobs.

Researchers from Griffith University's Institute for Suicide Research will undertake the three-year study with the Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health NSW, which is aligned with the University of Newcastle.

Research in 2010 showed farmers are among three occupations with significantly higher risk of male suicide, alongside transport and construction workers.
