CAMPBELL Newman has vowed to rule out mining and coal seam gas extraction across "inappropriate" areas of Scenic Rim farmland, west of the Gold Coast.
The LNP leader announced the policy to fast-track the region's land use planning in a statement on Wednesday, but did not explain what was considered "inappropriate" or who would make the decision.
It came as Federal independent MP Tony Windsor this morning said all coal seam gas projects should be halted while a scientific investigation of their impact on farm land was carried out.
"We want to preserve the unique character of the Scenic Rim," Mr Newman said.
