Energy Company AGL Accused of Bully Tactics at Forum

THE Scenic Hills Association has accused AGL of purposefully disrupting a public meeting held to inform the public about plans for coal seam gas operations in the Campbelltown area.

The meeting was held at Campbelltown Library on October 29 and attended by 65 people, including residents, association members, Liberal Campbelltown state MP Bryan Doyle and AGL representatives.

The association was gauging interest for staging a Campbelltown Day of Action against coal seam gas mining while also informing the public about the energy company’s plans to extend gas extraction into the Scenic Hills and other parts of Campbelltown.

Association spokeswoman Jacqui Kirkby said AGL accused meeting organisers of spreading false information. “We were providing the other side of the story - the downside and risks that AGL omits from its communication with the public,” she said.
