Either Ore, Mt Isa Locals Just Want to Dig

THEY mine copper, zinc, silver and lead from the baked earth around Mount Isa. As far as the locals are concerned, why not add uranium to the mix?
Yesterday, after Julia Gillard backed an end to the ban on exporting uranium to India, Glen Graham said he was relieved that Labor had at last twigged to the "wonderful" opportunity at hand.

"Mining uranium is not a hazardous operation; it's not enriched, it's just an ore," said Mr Graham, the unabashedly pro-development executive officer of the Mount Isa-to-Townsville Economic Development Zone in north Queensland.
