Blockading Farmers Bolstered by Independent MP's Stance on CSG

Liverpool Plains farmers, who are blockading a gas company's property, say they are heartened that the debate about coal seam gas is reaching the federal level.

It is day seven of their protest outside the site, between Spring Ridge and Caroona, which is owned by a consortium including Santos.

The landholders have been taking it in turns guarding the entrance to the property since the stand off began last Thursday.
A spokesman for Santos says no further work has been carried out on the site since the blockade started and there are no plans to do so while it is in discussions with local farmers.
