When : Today 5:15pm
Where: Chevron Australia Head Office
Urgent and Immediate response needed!
Last week, approximately 250 police converged on Broome, Western Australia, in a desperate attempt to crush peaceful community opposition to the proposed industrial complex at James Price Point on the pristine Kimberley coast. This ...outrageous misuse of police resources was ordered by West Australian Premier, Colin Barnett to appease the powerful corporations behind the James Price Point development – Woodside, BP, BHP-Billiton, Shell, Chevron, Mitsubishi and Mitsui. We need as many people as possible to show our support for those blockading, and send a message to police and Joint Venture Partners that brutality and intimidation will not discourage us; it will only make us stronger. We will be holding a candle light vigil, including footage and images of previous brutality used on Kimberley protectors as well as Joint Venture partner Logo’s to shame them into withdrawing support for such behavior. Where: Chevron head office. Level 24, 2 Market Street, Sydney. When: 5:15 on Wednesday 16th May What to bring: Candle, black/dark clothing. This is corporate-sponsored police intimidation, and it must stop. Corporate interests cannot be allowed to trump community participation. It's time to hold the big corporations accountable for the bullying and intimidation being carried out in their name. |
