An energy company will investigate more sites for CSG wells across Sydney after Marrickville council effectivley banned them from drilling in St Peters.
An energy company that abandoned plans to drill for coal seam gas (CSG) in Sydney's inner west has identified several new sites in the city it wants to explore.
The plans have prompted a warning from anti-CSG campaigners who fear Dart Energy may want to drill near residential areas.
The identified sites could be anywhere within Dart's exploration permit, which covers an area from Coalcliff, near Wollongong, in the south up to Gosford in the north. It goes as far west as Eastern Creek, near Blacktown.
Dart is keeping the precise locations secret but says the potential sites are on industrial land, the Seven Network reported on Wednesday.
Anti-CSG campaigners have warned that the planned exploration could still impact upon residential areas.
