Concern has been growing in Queensland over the amount of dredging being approved in the world heritage zoned Great Barrier Reef, in order to make room for six ports being built to accommodate that state's massive expansion of coal and coal seam gas exports.
Now it can be revealed that the Great Barrier Reef could be facing a massive escalation in the amount of dredging allowed, if applications currently under review are approved Federally. In fact, that increase could be 17 times what was allowed from 2005 to 2010.
