Timing ripe for takeovers in Queensland

AN environment ripe for corporate takeover activity is widely expected to continue in key sectors this year.
With forward multiples at subdued levels and earnings growth muted, mergers and acquisitions will appear more tempting as the Australian dollar remains strong and cheap debt stays available.

A solid slice of the activity should play out across Queensland, where analysts believe resources, industrials, retail, listed property and biotechnology will be among the sectors seeing the most change.

The state's booming oil and coal seam gas industries will be ground zero for much of the action as Chinese and Indian interests continue to scout for opportunities.
