Smell of gas lingers over CMA sacking

INDEPENDENT member for New England, Tony Windsor, has called for the examination of the dumping of Namoi Catchment Management Authority chairman Jim McDonald.

"To dump Mr McDonald, who had reapplied for his role, has a smell of gas and coal mixed with Coalition politics and the Namoi community should ask questions of NSW Minister Hodgkinson," Mr Windsor said.

He said Mr McDonald deserved credit for his role in many natural resource issues in the Namoi.

"Mr McDonald lives in the local area and has faithfully and skilfully dedicated 20 years of his life to the integrated catchment management of natural resources starting this vocation well before such things were popular or widely accepted.

"He has an in-depth understanding of environmental and natural resource issues of the catchment and is actively engaged in our community.
