Residents continue fight against coal seam gas mining

Opponents of coal seam gas mining in the Gloucester Valley are planning a letterbox drop to all residents to counteract a mining company pitch.

The energy company AGL has been taking out advertisements in the local newspaper outlining how mining will benefit the local economy.

Barrington-Gloucester-Stroud Preservation Alliance spokesman Steve Robinson says their newsletter will highlight how exploration and mining could hurt the local environment.

"I think it's necessary that the Alliance explain to the Gloucester and wider community why we see this development as being inappropriate for our valley," he said.

"If you put 330 wells down the valley that consumes the whole valley with this sort of spiders-web of wells. It greatly changes the whole look of the place."
