Farmers arrested in anti-gas protest against Arrow Energy at Kerry near Beaudesert

THE uproar over coal seam gas has reached Brisbane's backyard after nine people, mostly local farmers, were arrested and charged today at Kerry, near Beaudesert, after blockading an Arrow Energy exploration site.
But the local residents are unlikely to be scared off by the arrests, and were considering another blockade overnight with the potential for more arrests.

More than 45 people took part in the blockade, but most stepped aside following an order from Beaudesert police. The remainder were charged with disobeying a police order and will appear in court on February 1.

Organisers now believe protestors from other CSG sites, like Tara, near Chinchilla, and across the border in NSW, will head to Kerry to join the blockade.

"When one goes to war, we all go to war," organiser Heidi Ross said.
