Protesters get free trips to fight gas hub

ACTIVISTS across Australia are being offered free flights and an all-expenses-paid trip to the resort town of Broome.
The offer is for them to take part in protests against Woodside's proposed gas precinct ahead of a predicted fresh round of site works by the resources giant.

Experienced protesters from Brisbane and Adelaide have already signed up for the free trips and are among 12 activists expected to be flown to Broome at the weekend by Forest Rescue, a non-profit group central to the No Gas campaign.

Forest Rescue campaign co-ordinator Simon Peterffy, who shot to notoriety last month when he and two other environmental activists boarded the Japanese whaling vessel Shona Maru No 2 off the West Australian coast, yesterday confirmed that Forest Rescue would foot the bill for flying the activists to the blockade.

In a Facebook notice titled "Free trip to Broome for dedicated activists", experienced protesters are urged to contact Mr Peterffy so they can take part in "non-violent direct action at James Price Point as soon as possible".
