A COAL seam gas mine near Warragamba Dam is just one of more than 100 sites across Sydney given the greenlight to use the controversial and potentially dangerous “fracking” technique.
A NewsLocal investigation has pinpointed the locations of 114 coal seam gas exploration wells in Sydney where digging has already taken place, including the 1123m deep site “Wallacia 1” site near Warragamba dam.
Mining companies have also dug a 1018m deep exploration well at Castlereagh, another 1320m deep dig at North Castlereagh and digs at Erskine Park.
